A municipal energy supplier from the Ruhr region faced the challenge of making the reconciliation of intercompany transactions more efficient and transparent as part of an S/4HANA project.
The previous processes resulted in high effort and delays in the month-end close. With the introduction of the new SAP S/4HANA module Intercompany Matching and Reconciliation (ICMR), the company wanted to resolve these problems and at the same time create the basis for future automation.
The company sought professional support for the implementation of SAP add-ons and commissioned the SAP experts at BDF EXPERTS to deliver the project within a tight timeframe of just two months.
Defining the project scope
The concrete tasks in delivering the ICMR rollout lay in defining the necessary reconciliation rules and processes and, above all, in creating a unified data basis, since various SAP systems are in use across the group. It was therefore important to create a CDS view as a data basis that takes account of the particular features of the data extracts generated from the third-party systems and at the same time cleanly integrates the data from the SAP core system into the tables.
Project result
With the help of BDF EXPERTS, the problems in CDS view development were successfully resolved, as redundant data had previously been created during the upload process and was not suitable for ICMR reconciliation. The now clean data structure enables smooth harmonisation of the data from the external systems as well as the SAP core system.
In addition, by designing matching methods and the associated matching rules, BDF EXPERTS was able to enable successful preparation for consolidation. The group is now able to reconcile the data from its entities efficiently and thus significantly simplify its month-end and year-end closing process.
Looking ahead, an expansion of the consolidation solution is conceivable.
